INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADMISSION TO UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
International students are admitted to the undergraduate programs in IMU either through the IMUYOS exam administered by the university for those students who prefer to receive higher education with their own means or through Türkiye Scholarship program for those students who would like to receive a scholarship to pursue their studies.
Admission through the IMUYOS Exam
Every year, international student quotas, admission requirements, and application schedule are determined by the University Senate and announced on the webpage of IMU’s Department of Student Affairs (https://ogrenciisleri.medeniyet.edu.tr/tr). Applications are made online through the Student Information System (OBS).
Once the application process is completed, IMUYOS Exam (IMU Foreign Student Placement Exam) is administered in the summer term every year and student placement is based on the students’ IMUYOS scores. All the announcements concerning the process are published on the webpage of IMU’s Department of Student Affairs (https://ogrenciisleri.medeniyet.edu.tr/tr) and the applicants are required to follow this webpage for all the announcements.
Language of instruction is Turkish (except for certain programs where language of instruction is 100% English) for international candidates, whose proficiency levels in Turkish are determined through the “Turkish Proficiency Exam for Foreign Students” administered by Istanbul Medeniyet University or according to the scores they obtained in a Turkish test administered by a Turkish Teaching Center (TÖMER) run by a Turkish university.
Candidates who are admitted to an undergraduate program without a Turkish proficiency certificate are exempt from their studies for one year to improve their Turkish levels and they can start their studies in their respective programs only after they retake and pass the Turkish proficiency exam following their training in a Turkish Teaching Center (TÖMER).
Admission through Türkiye Scholarships Program
Türkiye Scholarships is a competitive government scholarship program that allows outstanding students from all around the world to pursue their higher education studies in a full-time or short-term program in the best universities in Turkey. Run by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) of the Republic of Turkey, the program also supports students in their accommodation expenses and in other services and procedures including health insurance, student bank account, and student residence permit and provides students with one-year Turkish language course.
International candidates who would like to apply to IMU’s undergraduate and graduate programs with a scholarship directly apply to YTB and selected students are directly placed in IMU by this government agency.
