Undergraduate Program in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts
The Department is located in Orhanlı Campus in Tuzla and actively offers a 4-year undergraduate program in gastronomy and culinary arts. Language of instruction in the program is Turkish. The main purpose of the department is to provide education in fields such as international cuisine techniques, Turkish cuisine techniques, food and beverage management, food science, food culture and history. In line with this purpose, it is aimed that students develop themselves in cultural and social fields, can solve problems with scientific methods, combine all these knowledge and skills with universal knowledge and practices, and use them in a way that will be beneficial to their country and the society they live in.
Many of the leading sector enterprises in Istanbul, where the experience of fine dining and slow food is developing rapidly, are looking for staff trained in gastronomy according to their clients’ needs but who are also not far from the tourism concept. The program aims to train tourism experts who have knowledge about world cuisine but also who know their cuisine in its finest details and who can promote the culture. Sectoral experts and renowned chefs are invited to teach in applied courses. Students are to complete compulsory internship (workplace training) for 75 working days in food and beverage businesses with a Tourism Management Certificate. The department has a practice kitchen used by the students in the applied courses.

Undergraduate Program in Tourism Management
The Department is located in Orhanlı Campus in Tuzla and actively offers a 4-year undergraduate program in tourism management. Language of instruction in the program is Turkish. The main purpose of the department is to train qualified employees, middle and upper-level manager candidates for the tourism sector by providing a modern, scientific and quality education in the field of tourism management. The program also aims to provide students with a solid theoretical background in tourism management. In this context, besides basic business knowledge, students will be taught about Agency Automation Programs such as Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Travel Agency and Tour Operator, Front Office and Housekeeping Management, Food and Beverage Management, Accommodation Automation Programs, Ticketing and Central Reservation Systems, Marketing, Tourism Geography, Human Resources Management in Tourism Enterprises, Organizational Behavior, Tourism Economics, Tourism Policy and Planning, Accounting in Tourism Enterprises, Cost Accounting in Tourism Enterprises, and Financial Management in Tourism Enterprises.
Besides the theoretical courses, the department also offers courses for practical training for the sector and an intensive foreign language education which mainly includes professional English, as well as in German, Russian and Arabic, which are offered optionally. Students of the department graduate as manager candidates who can work as middle and senior managers in tourism enterprises. In addition, program alumni can work in public institutions and organizations related to tourism development such as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Provincial Directorates of Culture and Tourism. In addition, students with high academic success can pursue an academic career, while students with capital can become entrepreneurs.
